Calvin; on what would be your 21st birthday, I wanted to write you a little note. Since hearing of your loss, the emotional journey that our family has experienced has been a rollercoaster ride. Grieving is never easy, and it comes in many shapes and forms. The initial pain is overwhelming, and with the pain comes the sorrow, the feeling of loss, and the feeling of guilt. And then there's the feeling of numbness; you feel so many things at once, your heart just shuts down. It's been months since you left us, but it still feels as raw as when we first heard the news of your passing. On what would be your 21st birthday, I'm putting aside my feelings of grief; instead, I'm remembering you, Calvin. Today, we're celebrating you. You were, and will forever continue to be a cherished member of our family. Your passionate, kindhearted nature will never be forgotten. Reading through all of the memories that all of your most cherished friends and family members have of you brings a tear to my eye, but also makes my heart fill with pride, joy and love. Calvin; today we say thank you. Thank you for being you, and letting us have and share these precious memories with you. I know we'll meet again once more. All our love, from the Gillett family.
